Hi, I’m Charlie from Invisible Hands Music. I started the label in the early 90s to put my own music out, but with the exception of a show at NXNE in Toronto this year, I haven’t actually been doing much playing for ages. Meanwhile, IHM now has a great roster of artists like Hugh Cornwell and Hazel O’Connor. It’s an honour to take their music to the people, as well as work with new artists like Rob Reynolds and Silver Sun. I hope you like our site. For a few links to things I’m into at the moment outside of music:
Aviation
My passion outside of music. See the future of aviation as imagined by Braniff in the 70s; and a couple of hairy landings, the first one at Lisbon, the second set at Wellington:

Politics

I discovered this short film in 2003 and downloaded it again recently, some of the observations in the wake of 9/11 are really profound. "What happened?! I thought we lived in a safe playground of a world, where my career was the only thing I had to think about." That’s from author Benjamin Barber, alongside many other interesting clips. Plenty of other great stuff on
www.gnn.tv but this is a highlight. 2003 Sundance Online Film Festival, 1st Runner-Up (Live Action). 2002 Rotterdam International Film Festival, Official Selection.

This is a three part documentary shown on terrestrial British TV in 2005. The premise is that politicians used to promise to make our lives better, but since all the ideologies they used to rely on have been debunked (communism, capitalism etc), all they have left is to protect us from nightmares. Compressed to within an inch of it’s life but watchable and fascinating.

George Galloway rips into a Sky news anchor. She is as outgunned on facts and as biased as anyone on Fox News, but she won’t concede defeat, making this brilliant telly.
